Exploring domesticity through the archival confines of ‘Woman’s Realm’ magazines, and how these stereotypes surrounding womanhood are still prevalent within a contemporary society, Food for Thought provides performative, social commentary on the subject matter.
Understanding how this intertwinement still exists through degrading insults surrounding female value and form, the work is heavily influenced by feminist photographers Sarah Lucas and Birgit Jürgenssen, who employ forms of self-portraiture to directly confront misogynistic social perceptions.
