...but one day I won’t be here, 2025
With my project, I represent the moments when I think about my mother. As young girls, we often perceive our mothers as annoying when we are at home, especially when they repeatedly instruct and scold us, urging us to learn things on our own.
She would often say: “One day, I won’t be here, and you will do
whatever you want. You’ll miss me, and you will come to appreciate everything I’ve done for you."
Nowadays, I smile when I think of those words, realizing how much I miss them. I wish I had spent more time with her, and I make an effort to cherish every moment I have with her when I am back home.
Being abroad can be difficult, especially when all you want is the honest and innocent affection of your family. I can see how my mother navigates life and its challenges while surrounded by the familiar comforts of home.
