Now Then explores the ways in which my hometown, Lincoln, has transformed over the past decade, and how the major re-developments that took place have changed the look and feel of the city.
The work is inspired by the noticeable economic and architectural changes that have occurred recently due to an increased younger population, which has led to extra funding being provided to renovate the city centre. This also relates to larger themes of gentrification and the modernisation of British cities, which are complex topics that have both positive and negative connotations.
I chose to approach this topic through a personal lens, exploring locations that were key parts of my childhood and adolescence, and how they have become almost unrecognisable in my adulthood.
