Socket Magazine
Volume 3
Each year, our Year 2 cohort of BA Photography students sets out on the seemingly impossible task to produce Socket Magazine, which is now in its’ third edition. Seemingly impossible because students are required to work to a set of design parameters which their personal and diverse photographic projects constantly question, through focused inquiry and the unique creative approaches they use to tell their stories.
Doubts and objections lead to a creative engagement with difficult decisions; each double page spread features only a fragment of an individual student’s project, yet enough to highlight each concept and, most importantly, to function collectively within this printed format.
Employing a variety of techniques and methods of enquiry, our students tackle issues such as trauma, memories and climate change, as well as making works that question street photography or find beauty in the mundane. Interviews, poetry, landscapes and portraits complete the picture of this new and inspiring issue of Socket (Vo3).
