Generations, 2023
These are portraits of four generations of women in my family. One of my little sister, my stepmom, my grandmother and my great-grandmother. Another, of my cousin, my aunt and again my grandmother and my great-grandmother. Finally, one of them all. The difference between the oldest and the youngest woman is 92 years. My great-grandmother is 102 years old. The smile and the wrinkles on her face alone tell a story; we do not need to hear a single word. I feel proud and lucky to have been able to capture them all together.
These portraits capture women in my family, and they also tell a more universal story of life; of how we change as we grow old, how we connect to those who come before us and after us; of how we belong.
