Kali, 2023

Each woman in the world must be accorded the highest respect and honour.

Vedic Dharma

The women of my family mean so much to me. They are resilient and influential. Where men were absent, the women stepped up from their already important tasks. The old, classic narrative.

They moulded all of us, you can ask anyone in the family.  I don’t know about yours, but mine made me equipped to tackle those masculine traits, that weigh on society.

We can all go too far in one direction. The work is about the people who come and pull us back down to the centre, where the balance is.  Women have always been, and forever will be, the most amazing animals to walk this forsaken Earth. Spirituality has been something prominent with these women, from many different religious backgrounds, and this ties them all together. I explore this through the representation of the goddess Kali.
