Cinematic comprises a short film and a series of 3 photos that present open ended narratives using still and moving image that aim to evoke individual emotional responses and associations in their audience. Cinematic sets out to be sharp, colourful, thrilling, mysterious and ambiguous. Each image and frame is designed to make the viewer think, imagine and investigate the image and create a narrative of their own.
My work is mainly influenced by music, movies and photography and draws particular inspiration from directors and photographers such as Christopher Nolan, Gregory Crewdson and Alec Soth. As a director, cinematographer and photographer I carefully consider each and every aspect of my work. Composition, location, lighting, colour palettes, subjects, props, art, atmosphere and make up, are all designed and planned to add narrative possibilities and allow for a multiplicity of readings.
