Egle Griniute
Egle’s Theatre, 2021
This portfolio orientated project reflects my creative and technical background. Growing up backstage in a theatre I saw the endless dramas, make-up and costume design. The bright and marvellous decorations, rehearsals, and chaos before the final show, shaped my creative process and the dramatic style of my work.
The camera has given me the opportunity to share my inner world with an audience and has let me pour all my creativity, derived from a world of performance, into the frame to display here a cast of characters and lockdown enforced masquerading self-portraits that will be used in future performative roles.
Included in this selection are also four humorous and surreal stories, in which the scenes are split down the middle in a manner that, for me, resembles the curtains on either side of a stage and ultimately reflects the abstract nature of theatre.
The unusual atmosphere that floods every day often goes unnoticed. However, the comedic and tragic qualities of our daily existence can be exaggerated and through dramatic colours and lighting, once mundane scenes can become extravagant moments. Fun for any age.
